More than 100 employees of Hausbeck Pickle and Pepper Company in Saginaw are now working for more than a paycheck. They are working for each other and for the future of the company they all own together.
“We want everyone to share in the success they help to create each day,” says CEO Tim Hausbeck, grandson of Charles and Rose Hausbeck who founded the company more than 100 years ago.
Tim Hausbeck continues to lead a management team charged with setting strategic direction, making key business decisions, and running the business. Employees are empowered to focus on customers, work as a team and bring their A game to work daily. They are charged with finding efficiencies, better managing expenses, and identifying new ways to serve customer. In return, they become vested owners with shares to take after retiring or leaving the company.
Employees qualify for ownership if they are at least 21 years old and have completed one full year of service over 12 consecutive months. They are fully vested after 5 years.
Hausbeck manufactures a wide variety of quality pickle and pepper products – plus customer formulations – for more than half of the quick services restaurant chains in the country. The 180,000+ sq. ft. plant on Hess Street on the city’s eastside features some of the food industry’s most sophisticated technology. More than 40 million pounds of cucumbers and 32 million pounds of banana peppers and jalapenos are processed there annually.
“My family didn’t build this company alone,” Hausbeck says. “We wouldn’t be who we are without employees. We wanted to share that success with our extended family…our employees.”
He says customers can expect even more care, collaboration and pride in every product and service. For those thinking of joining the Hausbeck team, it means being part of a culture where your voice matters and your work directly contributes to shared success.
Hausbeck Pickle & Pepper Company employees join more than 6,000 employee-owned companies nationwide. Others in Saginaw include Computer Management Technologies, William A. Kibbe & Associates. Wolgast Corporation, City Sewer Cleaners, Means Industries and APS Employment Services.
